On September 18th, a streamer named Guzu met a tragic fate while playing World of Warcraft Classic Hardcore. Despite his best efforts to save himself, he ultimately succumbed to death.
Guzu was in the midst of running the Temple of Atal’Hakkar, also known as Sunken Temple, with his level 52 Warrior. During the encounter with the Weaver boss, he was knocked back by the Wing Flap ability and fell through a hole in the floor.
In a desperate attempt to survive, Guzu quickly consumed a Noggenfoggen Elixir. This potion, which can be purchased in Tanaris, has three possible effects: transforming into a skeleton, floating, or shrinking in size. Unfortunately for Guzu, he received the skeleton transformation just before encountering the Spirit Healer.
Initially, it was believed that each effect had an equal chance of occurring. However, players on Reddit have pointed out that the skeleton transformation is actually more likely, with the other two effects having only a 20% chance each.
To potentially have another chance at using the Noggenfogger, Guzu could have bound the potion to a hotkey. However, most players reserve their hotkey slots for more essential consumables like Swiftness and Healing Potions, which offer a higher chance of survival.
While Mages and Priests have abilities that allow them and others to slow their fall, players of other classes are left to fend for themselves. At level 45, Engineering offers a Parachute Cloak that reduces fall speed for 10 seconds. However, the best advice is simply to avoid places like Sunken Temple or Gnomeregan, unless you have a strong desire to meet the Spirit Healer.
