Erick “aspas” Santos, one of the most sought-after free agents in the VALORANT Champions Tour 2023-24 offseason, has reportedly reached an agreement to join the Argentinian team Leviatán for the upcoming season. This move marks Leviatán’s first signing of the offseason and adds a former Champions final MVP and regional MVP to their roster.
Despite losing two members of their winning roster from 2022, LOUD remained a top team in their region throughout the 2023 season. This was largely due to their smart offseason acquisitions of Cauan “cauanzin” Pereira and Arthur “tuyz” Vieira. However, retaining aspas on the team was crucial for their success. Aspas, known for his exceptional aim, Operator skills, and Jett’s movement abilities, consistently performed at a high level and ended the year as the Americas MVP.
Leviatán, on the other hand, struggled with inconsistency during the 2023 season despite having talented players like Vicente “Tacolilla” Compagnon and fragging IGL Francisco “kiNgg” Aravena. With Tacolilla’s departure, Leviatán needed a new star player to fill the duelist role. Aspas, with his versatility and ability to play Raze at a high level, is a significant upgrade for the team.
While there are concerns about aspas’ reliance on Jett, his consistency and skill set should allow him to adapt to the new roster and improve the overall team performance. Additionally, aspas won’t have to travel far to meet his new teammates, making the transition easier for him.
Overall, aspas’ addition to Leviatán is a promising move that has the potential to elevate the team’s performance in the upcoming VCT season.
