Overwatch 2’s lead hero designer, Alec Dawson, has finally addressed the burning question on every fan’s mind: what will happen to Sombra in the upcoming hero balance changes? In a recent blog post, Dawson provided some much-needed details about the rework, promising a more “committal” role for Sombra and a more active playstyle.
The Overwatch team aims to make Sombra feel like she has a greater impact in matches, moving away from her current hit-and-run tactics. However, they also want to maintain her hacker identity and playstyle. While the exact changes are still unclear, it is likely that adjustments will be made to Sombra’s Stealth ability to prevent repetitive stealth and teleportation maneuvers.
Sombra has always been a controversial hero due to her unique stealth mechanics and hacking abilities. Dawson has previously referred to her as the “problem child” of the roster, and the developers have confirmed a rework for her kit in season seven. However, until now, players have been left in the dark about the specifics of the upcoming changes.
