The Best Players Who Missed Worlds 2023

Xavier Ward

Viper – The Fallen Star

Viper, the former Summoner’s Cup winner, will not be competing in South Korea. Despite joining Hanwha Life Esports with high expectations, the team failed to deliver consistent performances against the top teams in the LCK. Viper’s individual performance was impressive, with high kill counts and damage shares, but it wasn’t enough to carry his team to Worlds.

JackeyLove – Falling Short Again

JackeyLove, known for his explosive playstyle, won’t be fighting for the Summoner’s Cup this year. Despite being part of Top Esports, a top contender in the LPL, JackeyLove and his team struggled to break into the upper echelon of the region. His individual stats were impressive, with high kill counts and damage numbers, but without a strong team around him, he couldn’t keep up with the competition.

Jankos – The Valiant Effort

Jankos, one of Europe’s best junglers, missed out on Worlds despite his best efforts. Playing for Team Heretics, Jankos was the standout player on the team, consistently performing well and making in-game calls. His individual stats were impressive, leading in kills and ranking high in kill participation and damage among junglers. Unfortunately, his team fell short in the playoffs, ending their Worlds dreams.

Larssen – Struggling for Consistency

Larssen, a talented mid laner, won’t be attending Worlds for the first time since 2020. Despite his individual success, his team KOI struggled to find consistency throughout the year. Larssen was the highest-producing player on his team, leading in kills and boasting the highest KDA among LEC mid laners. To make it to Worlds in the future, Larssen’s team will need to improve significantly.

Jojopyun – North America’s MVP

Jojopyun, Evil Geniuses’ star player, won’t be competing at Worlds despite being North America’s most valuable player. He had an outstanding year, carrying his team to competitiveness in the regular season. His individual stats reached career-highs, with dominant early-game performance and impressive damage numbers. However, in the playoffs, his team couldn’t match the experience and firepower of their opponents.

Player Team Reason for Missing Worlds
Viper Hanwha Life Esports Inconsistent team performances
JackeyLove Top Esports Struggles to break into the top tier of the region
Jankos Team Heretics Team fell short in the playoffs
Larssen KOI Team lacked consistency and finished outside the top five
Jojopyun Evil Geniuses Team couldn’t match the experience and firepower of opponents in the playoffs
