Pokémon Go Routes Update: Players Divided on Zygarde Cell Changes

Xavier Ward

An update to Pokémon Go’s Routes feature on Sept. 22 aimed to improve the collection of Zygarde Cells. However, players are not entirely convinced that the update has fixed the issues with Routes.

On Reddit, players shared their experiences and opinions in various threads. The main topic of discussion was the changes made to Zygarde Cells. One thread mentioned that the spawn range of these valuable items had been increased, and another user explained that they now have a fixed position instead of appearing at a specific distance from the player. This change seems to be the most popular among players.

However, the other adjustments made in the update received a more mixed response. The pickup mechanic for Zygarde Cells has always been controversial since the introduction of Routes in Pokémon Go, and it appears that this update has not completely resolved the issue.

In one thread, a player claimed to have received a Zygarde Cell for completing a Route without tapping on it and even shared a screenshot as proof. However, many players were skeptical as they did not experience the automatic pickup themselves.

On the other hand, several players reported receiving their very first Zygarde Cell from loop Routes. One comment stated, “Definitely fixed. A loop route that I’ve done 30+ times without a cell gave me my first cell today.”

Determining whether the spawn rate and pickup mechanic for Zygarde Cells have been adjusted is challenging, as players need to test it out themselves. However, completing Routes takes time, and the number of spawns is limited.

One change that is certain is the addition of a notification for nearby Routes. Pokémon Go players noticed this new feature but did not welcome it warmly. They complained about unnecessary information cluttering their screens.

Overall, the changes to Routes have received a mixed response from the community. The feature has faced heavy criticism since its introduction this summer, with questionable Route additions and issues related to Zygarde Cells. However, it is still early days for the update, and more time is needed to fully understand its implications.
