Belle’s Appearance in Disney Dreamlight Valley Receives Mixed Reviews

Derek Morgan

Disney Dreamlight Valley recently introduced Belle and the Beast from Beauty and the Beast to their Enchanted Adventure update. While the Beast’s arrival has been met with excitement, players have expressed disappointment with Belle’s appearance since her release.

Players had high expectations for Belle, especially since she was featured in the original key artwork for Disney Dreamlight Valley. However, many agree that something feels “off-putting” about her character design.

Numerous complaints have been made about Belle’s appearance, including her broad and seemingly backward shoulders, claw-like hands, inaccurate dress, and overall unwell appearance. Players have even expressed discomfort being near her due to her mannerisms and voice.

Comparing the key art version of Belle to her actual appearance in the game, it is clear that there are significant differences. While players understand that artwork will always differ from the in-game representation, they believe that Gameloft can make adjustments to bring Belle closer to her original depiction.

Some players speculate that Gameloft may have attempted to combine the cartoon version of Belle with the live-action adaptation portrayed by Emma Watson. However, even if this was the intention, players still feel that Belle does not look right and that an update is necessary.

Belle’s appearance has generated more dissatisfaction among players than any other character in the game. Although there were concerns about Elsa’s original appearance, they were nowhere near the level of disappointment expressed for Belle. Players generally praise Gameloft for their work on other characters, making Belle’s design miss the mark even more surprising.

One player humorously suggested that Gameloft used a scuffed cartoon version of Belle from the show Mickey’s House of Villains as the source material for her design.

Fans who have eagerly awaited Belle’s arrival are now sorely disappointed with her release. Some have been waiting for months, but their disappointment has led them to barely interact with her enough to reach level three friendship, a task that can typically be accomplished in just a few minutes.

While there were previous concerns about Elsa’s appearance, which were eventually addressed, players remain hopeful that Gameloft will listen to their feedback and give Belle an overhaul in a future update. The developers have a track record of being responsive to fans’ concerns, so there is optimism that Belle’s appearance can be improved.
