Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch Three Receives Backlash for Adding Bugs Instead of Fixing Them

Derek Morgan

Players of Baldur’s Gate 3 are expressing their dissatisfaction with the recent Patch Three update, claiming that it has introduced more bugs to the game instead of resolving existing issues. A Reddit thread titled “Patch 3 kinda sucks” gained significant support from the community, with users agreeing that the update has caused new bugs to emerge.

One of the major complaints revolves around a bug involving a conversation with the character Gale. The patch was supposed to fix this issue, but instead, it made it worse. Gale now repeats a conversation about “absorbing a magic item” and both conversations are repeated instead of being resolved.

Other aspects of the game were also negatively affected by the update, according to players. They mentioned that graphical updates made certain characters, like Raphael and the new dyes, appear more awkward. Additionally, new bugs have been reported in relation to doors, Wyll’s story, censored scenes, and the Animate Dead feature, among other parts of the game.

One player reported experiencing a persistent visual glitch on the PS5 version, which forced them to remove the character Lae’zel from their team. They described it as a strobing multicolor explosion effect emanating from Lae’zel at all times.

Players have been submitting lists of encountered bugs to Larian, the developer of Baldur’s Gate 3, on the game’s official forum. It remains uncertain whether a hotfix will be released to address these issues. Alongside bug fixes and performance adjustments, Patch Three also introduced Mac support and the Magic Mirror feature at the camp.
