Riot Games has addressed concerns regarding the pricing of the upcoming Redeemed Star Guardian Xayah and Rakan skins in League of Legends. The skins, previously exclusive to Wild Rift, will now be available for purchase on the PC version of the game. After some confusion regarding their pricing, Riot has assured fans that they will be reasonably priced and not require exorbitant amounts of money to obtain.
The initial listing on the PBE server indicated that the skins would cost 250 Mythic Essence each, making them more expensive than any other skins in the store, including Prestige skins. However, Riot has clarified that this was a placeholder and the actual price will be 1,820 RP each when they are released. There will also be a bundle option available for 2,002 RP. Players who already own the original Star Guardian Xayah and Rakan skins will receive a discount on the new versions.
This announcement comes after the controversy surrounding the Dark Cosmic Erasure Jhin skin, which was classified as a “Mythic Variant” of an existing Legendary skin. Many players felt that it could have been sold as a Mythic Chroma instead. To obtain this skin, players had to purchase and open event-exclusive Cosmic Capsules, with a small chance of receiving the skin. This pricing model received significant backlash from the community.
Riot has stated that they will take player feedback into account for future releases of “Mythic Variants.” However, they have assured fans that the Redeemed Star Guardian Xayah and Rakan skins do not fall under this pricing scheme. These skins will only be available for a limited time before being rotated out with other Mythic Shop skins.
