Cyberpunk 2077’s highly anticipated expansion, Phantom Liberty, has finally arrived, bringing with it some exciting Easter eggs. One observant player has discovered a direct reference to the popular John Wick franchise, which stars Keanu Reeves, the very actor who plays Johnny Silverhand in Cyberpunk 2077. The developers at CD Projekt Red have cleverly acknowledged Reeves’ previous film accomplishments by including this nod in the game.
The Easter egg in question is a partially opened weapons case that bears the inscription “For Mr. Wick.” Inside, you can spot the logo of Samurai, the band associated with Reeves’ character, Johnny Silverhand. This is just one of the many references to Keanu Reeves found in Cyberpunk 2077. In fact, it’s not even the first John Wick Easter egg discovered in the game.
During a mission, players can encounter a character named Sergei, who mentions a particular “hitman” and describes him as “nothing breathtaking.” This subtle nod refers to Reeves’ appearance at Cyberpunk 2077’s E3 2019 showcase. Sergei also mentions his dog and a small “misunderstanding” they’ve had, alluding to the iconic role of John Wick, known for his love of dogs.
Keanu Reeves, who co-founded the motorcycle company Arch in 2011, has another connection to Cyberpunk 2077. The game features Arch motorcycles, including the one ridden by Jackie Welles, a significant character in the game’s prologue. As Reeves is associated with Arch in real life, it’s intriguing to think that his presence extends to the Cyberpunk world. Perhaps we’ll see more of the actor in future iterations of Night City and the NUSA created by CD Projekt Red.
These references to Keanu Reeves in Cyberpunk 2077 demonstrate CD Projekt Red’s admiration for the Hollywood star. It’s clear that the developers have incorporated these nods as a tribute to Reeves’ iconic roles and his contribution to the world of entertainment. After all, who doesn’t love Keanu Reeves?
