Cyberpunk 2077 and Baldur’s Gate 3 are locked in a fierce competition for player supremacy. Both games have been neck-and-neck in terms of concurrent players, with neither willing to back down.
After the release of its new DLC on September 26, 2023, Cyberpunk 2077 experienced a massive surge in player count. Meanwhile, Baldur’s Gate 3 has held its ground on SteamDB, but its position may be in jeopardy.
Baldur’s Gate 3 currently holds the record for the highest 24-hour concurrent peak, with 258,369 players. However, Cyberpunk 2077 is not far behind, boasting 246,754 concurrent players within the same timeframe.
In terms of concurrent players, Cyberpunk currently takes the lead. It also surpasses Baldur’s Gate 3 in terms of all-time peak player count. Three years ago, Cyberpunk reached over one million concurrent players, while Baldur’s Gate 3 falls short by nearly 200,000 players.
On Steam’s sales charts, Cyberpunk 2077 and its DLC, Phantom Liberty, claim the top two spots, while Baldur’s Gate 3 sits at fifth place. Although Baldur’s Gate 3 sold over 5.2 million copies by August 16, 2023, according to a Weibo post by the Belgium Embassy in China, Cyberpunk’s DLC has the potential to surpass these numbers.
While Baldur’s Gate 3 has managed to hold its own, it is likely that we will see an influx of Phantom Liberty players in the near future. The recently released DLC has only just arrived and has plenty of room for growth.
Cyberpunk 2077’s return to the spotlight has also been met with positive reviews. Whether it can maintain its player base like Baldur’s Gate 3 remains to be seen. Since its release on August 3, 2023, Baldur’s Gate 3 has maintained consistent sales and player count.
However, it seems that Phantom Liberty is more than capable of propelling Cyberpunk 2077 back to the top of the charts.
