Epic Games is generously giving away free V-Bucks to some Fortnite players due to a translation error that caused major confusion.
The ‘Find the Force’ event, which took place during Chapter Four, season two, was a limited-time celebration of three beloved characters from the Star Wars franchise. From May 2 to May 23, Fortnite players had the opportunity to complete special quests and earn exciting rewards.
During the event, players could choose to be trained by either Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker as Jedi trainers or Darth Maul as a Sith trainer. They could learn force training techniques such as pull, push, and throw under their guidance. Additionally, depending on their chosen trainer, players were given a light saber to use as a melee weapon in Fortnite.
While there was a free track available for players who didn’t want to spend extra, the premium reward track, priced at 1,000 V-Bucks, offered even more enticing items, including four outfits.
Epic Games released a blog post to inform players about the event, but the Portuguese translation of the post caused confusion regarding the event’s rewards.
On September 26, Fortnite informant iFireMonkey shared a tweet showing an in-game notification that some players received. The notification, when translated to English, stated that during the Find the Force event, incorrect information about the Premium Reward Counter text on the blog and in-game may have caused confusion for some players. As a result, impacted players would receive a refund of 1,000 V-Bucks as an apology for the inconvenience caused.
It is interesting to note that it took Epic Games an entire season to realize the impact of the mistranslated blog post and compensate the affected players. However, not all players are eligible for the refund. Only players residing in regions affected by the translation error and those who purchased the premium track are entitled to receive the free V-Bucks.
Reports suggest that not all affected players have received their V-Bucks yet, but it is possible that Epic Games is in the process of rolling out the compensation. If you are one of the affected players and have not received your V-Bucks, it is recommended to wait for a while or reach out to Epic Games Support for assistance.
