Warlock’s Weavewalk Nerf Sparks Controversy Among Destiny 2 Players

Derek Morgan

Destiny 2 players are expressing their dissatisfaction with the recent nerf to the Warlock’s Strand aspect – Weavewalk. The patch notes for the 7.2.0.5 update revealed that the changes mainly target PvP, but players are concerned about the impact on PvE gameplay. Meanwhile, the Titan’s Banner of War remains untouched, despite its dominance in challenging content.

The Weavewalk changes include reduced damage for Arc Soul and No Time To Explain drones while in Weavewalk, as well as reduced damage for perched Threadlings deployed during Weavewalk. Additionally, players can no longer dunk the Spark while in Weavewalk, and the damage resistance provided by Weavewalk is reduced when carrying the Spark. These adjustments aim to address the synergy between passive damage effects like Arc Souls and Threadlings.

While the changes primarily affect PvP scenarios where players could deal damage while in Weavewalk, concerns arise regarding the potential impact on PvE gameplay. Players question why the Banner of War, which has been dominating the game since its release, was not nerfed in PvE. This ability allows players to complete challenging content solo more easily.

Some players argue that the Weavewalk nerf is a niche interaction that is not commonly used in PvE. They believe that most players use Weavewalk as a panic button to save themselves rather than focusing on dealing damage. It is worth noting that regular Threadling damage remains unaffected, ensuring that existing builds should still function effectively.

However, players continue to express their dissatisfaction with Weavewalk having only one fragment slot compared to Banner of War. They believe that Banner of War is long overdue for a nerf. Players eagerly await the upcoming weekly TWID blog post on September 28 for potential updates on this matter.
