Overwatch 2 Players Report Issues with Anniversary Event Credit Rewards

Derek Morgan

Numerous players of Overwatch 2 have encountered problems with receiving Overwatch Credits as rewards for completing challenges during the Anniversary Event. The developer has acknowledged the issue and assured players that a fix is on the way.

Executive producer Jared Neuss took to social media to address the problem, stating that players were receiving their event rewards inconsistently. He mentioned that the team is currently investigating the issue and, in the meantime, they have disabled Credit grants from these challenges. Once the problem is resolved, affected players will be compensated accordingly. Neuss also apologized for any confusion caused by the display of Credits as rewards during the challenges.

It is worth noting that Overwatch Credits are particularly significant during this year’s Anniversary Event due to the introduction of a limited-time shop where players can purchase skins that were previously only available for real money. Unlike OW coins, which are obtained through monetary transactions, OW Credits can be earned by simply playing the game.

The Anniversary Event Challenges were designed to provide players with a substantial amount of OW Credits that could be immediately used to acquire popular unvaulted skins, eliminating the need for real money purchases. Therefore, the inability to receive these credits is especially frustrating for players.

Blizzard has yet to resolve the issue, but updates regarding the fix will likely be shared on their social media platforms and official forums.
