Valve’s TI12 Compendium Update Disappoints Dota 2 Community

Tim Price

Valve’s release of the TI12 Compendium update has caused an uproar within the Dota 2 community due to its lack of content. Fans were expecting a return to Dota 2’s glory days with The Compendium after the absence of a battle pass in 2023. However, the update fell short, leaving players questioning its price tag.

Many fans expressed their disappointment, stating that the $7.49 price for the Compendium only offered a HUD, voice lines, and stickers, with no cosmetics included. The lack of active playable content or events further added to the dissatisfaction.

Prior to the update, popular Dota 2 caster TeaGuvnor eagerly awaited the Compendium on his Twitch stream for over 32 hours. However, even he couldn’t hide his disappointment when the notes dropped. TeaGuvnor highlighted the absence of events like Cavern Crawl, expressing a desire for more content during this celebratory time in the Dota 2 world.

Despite the lackluster offering, 25 percent of the Compendium’s proceeds will still contribute to TI12’s prize pool. Valve has assured players that future updates, including new patches and arcanas, will be released after the tournament concludes.

With TI12 approaching and an uninspired Compendium, Dota 2 may experience its lowest prize pool since 2014.
