Warlocks in World of Warcraft Dragonflight Need a Talent Tree Rework

Tim Price

One player on WoW’s subreddit suggests that Destruction and Demonology Warlocks are in need of a talent tree rework. These classes have an excessive number of talents, many of which are inconsequential and boring. The player suggests that Blizzard Entertainment should trim down these unnecessary talents to make room for more impactful and enjoyable options.

Currently, Warlocks have over 50 talents, with many of them offering little to no change in the flow or feel of the spec. Talents like Ruin, Cavitation, Scalding Flames, and Malefic Impact simply provide small increases in damage without adding any interesting gameplay mechanics. By removing these talents, players would have more freedom to choose fun and engaging options instead of being forced to prioritize raw DPS stats.

In addition to talent bloat, Demonology Warlocks spend a significant amount of time spamming Shadow Bolt to generate Soul Shards, while Destruction Warlocks have a rotation that is boiled down to just a few buttons. While not every class needs to be as complex as Arcane Mages, stripping away skill expression and creative freedom can make a spec feel dull to play.

Blizzard Entertainment is actively reworking specs in Dragonflight, with Paladins, Shadow Priests, and Mages already receiving attention. The next classes in line for a rework are Rogues and Demon Hunters in Patch 10.2. Hopefully, Warlocks will also receive some much-needed improvements in future patches.
