Blizzard has given fans a sneak peek at what to expect at BlizzCon, and the most exciting announcement for Overwatch 2 enthusiasts is the introduction of a new hero. The graphic teases the reveal of the hero, who will be a tank, and is set against a backdrop of worn gray metal.
In the past, Blizzard has typically unveiled new heroes just before the start of a new season. However, this time they are breaking tradition by announcing the new hero a month in advance at BlizzCon, which takes place on November 3-4.
Previously, Blizzard confirmed that the next hero would be introduced in season eight and would be a tank. Season seven, which begins next month, will not feature a new hero. Season eight is expected to start in early December.
Speculation about the new hero has been circulating since the Overwatch team revealed the new control map, Samoa, for season seven. Many believe that the new hero will be Mauga, a Talon heavy assault character and former friend of Baptiste, as depicted in a short story released in 2019. Mauga, which means “mountain” in Samoan, is expected to be teased through the new map before being officially released.
