CS:GO Still Playable on PC Despite CS2 Launch

superadmin

Valve’s recent launch of CS2 has led to the removal of CS:GO from Steam, but the community has found a way to continue playing the game on PC. Although it is uncertain how long this method will remain active, as of September 28th, it is working perfectly. By downloading the “csgo_demo_viewer – 1.38.7.9” beta version on Steam, players can still enjoy CS:GO on their computers. While official servers are inaccessible, players can create dedicated servers to play with friends or against bots.

If you prefer to stick with CS:GO due to concerns about the current state of CS2, follow these simple steps:

  1. Go to your Steam Library and right-click on CS2.
  2. Select “Properties” from the drop-down menu.
  3. Click on the “Beta” tab.
  4. In the “Beta Participation” drop-down menu, choose “csgo_demo_viewer – 1.38.7.9.”
  5. Steam will automatically download this version of CS:GO.
  6. Once the download is complete, you can start playing CS:GO again.
  7. When launching CS2, Steam will prompt you to choose between CS2 and the demo viewer version of CS:GO. Select the latter.

It remains unclear whether Valve will continue to support this version of CS:GO, allowing players to set up dedicated servers similar to Counter-Strike: Source and Counter-Strike: 1.6. Despite being older games, these titles still offer the ability to play on dedicated servers.
