Valve Disappoints CS:GO Community with Missing Features in CS2

Derek Morgan

Valve’s release of CS2 has left the CS:GO community feeling let down, as many expected missing features to be included in the full release. However, this was not the case, and players are expressing their dissatisfaction.

On September 28, the day after CS2 was released, Reddit users voiced their disappointment, claiming that “half the game” had been cut. It appears that there is no new content in CS2 compared to the beta version.

Several game modes, such as Arms Race and Danger Zone, along with certain Competitive and Wingman maps, workshop maps, Steam achievements, and console commands, are no longer available. While losing some game modes may not be a dealbreaker, these modes had dedicated player bases who enjoyed them without knowing that they were about to be removed.

The removal of Steam achievements also upset players who had put in a lot of effort to earn them. One player expressed their disappointment, saying, “They got rid of the achievements? Man, I’m pretty bummed about that. That was a lot of damn work.” Many others shared this sentiment.

However, the biggest letdown for many players is the absence of workshop maps. CS:GO had a vibrant community of map creators who provided a variety of maps for different occasions, making the game more enjoyable beyond just competitive play. Additionally, players used workshop maps for training purposes, such as practicing peeks, grenades, and angles.

While some argue that people simply dislike change and complain about minor things, the removal of these core game elements without notice has left many feeling frustrated.

Furthermore, CS2 already had existing issues, such as a high number of cheaters and forced tick rate, which made the game feel unready to replace its predecessor. While these issues may eventually be addressed, Valve’s traditional update pace suggests that it may not happen anytime soon.

Overall, the CS:GO community is disappointed with the missing features in CS2 and hopes that Valve will address these concerns in the future.
