Valve’s highly anticipated CS2 release has left Mac users disappointed as they are unable to access the game. The update, which migrated the existing CS:GO title to Valve’s new Source 2 engine, completely replaced CS:GO on Steam, rendering it unusable for Mac users. While some fans defended Valve’s decision, stating that the game requires additional polishing for systems other than Windows, it seems that a Mac version is being actively developed.
According to SteamDB, a database tracking Steam’s systems, a Mac version of CS2 exists but has not yet been made public. This suggests that Valve is working on and preparing a Mac release. However, Apple’s strict criteria for app releases on its platforms may be causing further delays.
Despite the setback, it is unlikely that CS2 will remain unavailable for Mac users for long. The official Counter-Strike Twitter account recently acknowledged the exceptional load on Valve’s servers due to the high number of players eager to try out the latest version of the iconic shooter. With such a significant interest from players, it is doubtful that Valve will exclude any platform from accessing CS2.
