Mortal Kombat 1 fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of the game, and now one of its creators is already hinting at future downloadable fighters. While guest characters from other franchises are not new to Mortal Kombat, some iconic horror movie antagonists may soon join the roster. Ed Boon, the creator of MK1, recently posted an image on Twitter featuring famous horror characters like Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees, and Leatherface, all with checkmarks next to their faces. The image also includes question marks next to characters like Ghostface, Michael Myers, Pinhead, Chucky, and Billy the Puppet.
Ghostface and Billy the Puppet seem to be the most likely additions, as their respective franchises are still active with new or upcoming releases. Saw X is hitting theaters today, and Scream 7 has been confirmed to be in development. Furthermore, a recent data mine of MK1’s files revealed evidence of Ghostface, along with other characters like Noob Saibot and Cyrax. While a second Kombat Pack is expected to be released in spring 2024, it may take some time before Ghostface or another horror icon joins the game. However, this hasn’t stopped Boon from teasing a potential collaboration and gauging fan interest.
