Marvel Snap’s latest season, Bloodstone, brings exciting balance changes to the game. One particular tweak has transformed a previously unviable card into a useful addition for certain decks. Uatu, the Watcher, has undergone changes to both his power level and card text. Now a one-cost, one-power card, Uatu’s ability has been modified to reveal the right location at the start of the game, rather than only when in your hand.
The patch notes from Second Dinner, the developers of Marvel Snap, explain the reasoning behind this adjustment. They acknowledge that Uatu’s effect is significant early in the game but heavily relies on drawing the card. To address this issue, they have made changes that ensure Uatu’s ability functions regardless of whether you draw him or not. However, they emphasize that they do not intend to make Uatu a staple of Series 1/2 play and may revisit the card in the future based on player feedback.
Card | Previous Cost/Power | New Cost/Power | Change |
---|---|---|---|
Mantis | 1-cost, 2-power | 2-cost, 3-power | Increase in cost and power |
Cable | 2-cost, 2-power | 3-cost, 4-power | Increase in cost and power |
Maria Hill | 2-cost, 3-power | 1-cost, 2-power | Decrease in cost and power |
In addition to Uatu, three other cards have undergone changes. Mantis now costs two and has three power instead of one cost and two power. Cable’s cost has increased to three with four power, up from two cost and two power. Maria Hill’s cost has decreased to one with two power, and she now adds a random two-cost card to your hand instead of a random one-or-two cost card.
Second Dinner explains that these adjustments aim to differentiate these cards from each other and provide more variety in their usage. They acknowledge that this group of cards, including Agent 13, Sentinel, and Snowguard, all add cards to your hand at a low cost but have similar cost and power combinations. Further tweaks may be made in the future to better define the unique capabilities of each card.
Mojo, a card that has gained popularity since Elsa Bloodstone’s arrival, has also been modified. Mojo’s ability now grants a +6 power buff when both sides of the location are full, rather than requiring both players to have four cards at the location. This change effectively maintains the same effect while clarifying the conditions.
The update also includes bug fixes and several new features. Players can now preview different card qualities in the shop, access rare and super rare avatars from variants in Collector’s Reserves, and use emoji reactions on locations.
The major change to Uatu and other card adjustments are now live in Marvel Snap for players to test and provide feedback.
