Pokémon Go Players Discover Funny Route Approval Exception

Tim Price

Pokémon Go players have stumbled upon a hilarious exception to the strict route approval process introduced by Niantic in July. Despite the challenging conditions, one player managed to get their absurd circular route approved, much to everyone’s surprise.

In a Reddit thread from October 3rd, user u/Osloborger1 showcased their route, which had the same starting and ending point and consisted of multiple overlapping circles. To everyone’s disbelief, this comical route was approved in just a couple of minutes.

Routes have become incredibly popular in Pokémon Go due to the numerous benefits they offer, including increased XP, more spawns, Zygarde cells, revives, and poke balls. As a result, players have been suggesting various new routes, but Niantic has been quite stringent in their approval process.

Despite the careful planning and thought put into many routes, it is astonishing that a route with such a simple and repetitive design was approved so quickly. Players jokingly commented on the efficiency of this route, as it provides all the benefits with minimal effort.

Some speculate that the route’s approval may be attributed to it being located in a green biome, avoiding residential areas and road crossings. This could have automatically placed it in an auto-approval queue. However, regardless of the reasoning, players would undoubtedly look rather foolish walking in circles to complete this path.

Niantic struck gold with the introduction of routes in Pokémon Go, as they encourage players to explore different paths in their neighborhoods and have fun. However, there are still some aspects of the feature that confuse players, particularly when it comes to adding new routes. Hopefully, Niantic will address these concerns and we can look forward to seeing many more exciting routes in the future, minus the dizzying circles.
