The player had delayed taking the optional Mars tour until after they had already married Andreja, a character introduced early on in the game’s main storyline. With an abundance of credits at their disposal, they decided to select the highest tip option for the tour guide. However, this seemingly innocent act triggered a negative response from Andreja.
As soon as the high tip was given, the player’s camera focused on Andreja, who crossed her arms and rolled her eyes, exclaiming, “Why not just throw away our whole Credstick?!” The player found this reaction to be incredibly realistic and relatable, considering it the most authentic moment they had encountered in a video game.
Another Reddit user commented on the post, mentioning that Andreja also expresses disapproval if the player gives too many or too few credits to an NPC during a Crimson Fleet mission. This detail resonated with other commenters, who appreciated the game’s inclusion of realistic marital dynamics.
To put the 500 credits tip into perspective, an item in a vending machine costs 100 credits, while a new ship habitat module requires 600 credits. The economy in Starfield may not make much sense, as the player once tipped a street urchin 1000 credits for simple information on Neon, without any negative reaction from Andreja (although they were still in the early stages of their relationship at that point).
What adds an amusing touch to this interaction is that it takes place right in front of the tour guide who received the tip.
