After a six-year absence, the beloved multiplayer mode War is making a comeback in the highly anticipated game, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. This exciting announcement was made during the CoD Next livestream on Oct. 5, much to the delight of fans.
War mode, which last appeared in the series in 2017’s World War II, offers a unique multiplayer experience driven by narrative. Players are divided into two teams, attackers and defenders, with the former tasked with completing strategic objectives while the latter tries to stop them.
In World War II, players could engage in seven different Operations, each set in various locations and featuring intense battles. The number of Operations and maps available in Modern Warfare 3 has yet to be confirmed by Sledgehammer Games.
The return of War mode has generated excitement among Call of Duty enthusiasts, with one Reddit user expressing their joy: “This has made me very hyped! It was my favorite mode in WW2, so I’m thrilled to see it coming back.”
While players will have the opportunity to try out the game during the Modern Warfare 3 beta starting on Oct. 6, they will have to wait until the full release on Nov. 10 to fully immerse themselves in the thrilling action of War mode.
