CS:GO Pro Player S1mple Criticizes Counter-Strike 2

Xavier Ward

Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev, a renowned player in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO), is not impressed with the new title, Counter-Strike 2. In a recent tweet, he advised against playing the game at the moment, stating that players should wait for updates before diving in.

S1mple, known for his exceptional AWP skills and high performance, has been vocal about his dissatisfaction with CS2. He points out that the game launched with several missing features and issues, such as the absence of quality-of-life improvements from CS:GO. The new sub-tick system has faced criticism for hit registration problems, with players longing for the reliable 128 tick servers found in third-party matchmaking platforms like FACEIT.

Other problems, including wonky matchmaking ranks and a lack of community maps, have plagued CS2 since its release two weeks ago. The feedback from players has been loud and clear. Valve, the game’s developer, has addressed some of these issues and is actively working on resolving others.

However, it is worth noting that CS2 is in a better state than CS:GO was at its launch. The early days of Global Offensive were riddled with gameplay issues and inconsistencies, such as flashbang grenade problems. While the new volumetric smoke grenade mechanic had some initial hiccups, it has improved after minor adjustments. The sub-tick issue remains a major concern, but with Valve’s involvement, it is likely to be fixed soon.

Although these problems should be addressed, those familiar with CS:GO’s early days know that the situation could be much worse. CS2 has the potential to improve and provide a better gaming experience with future updates.
