Battle Rage in Call of Duty has entered a new phase in Modern Warfare 3, but it’s far from being balanced. The ability, which has now been moved to the Tactical slot, is being used more frequently, but early footage from the MW3 beta shows that it’s completely broken, making the process of getting kills a frustrating chore.
When Battle Rage is active, players experience an “adrenaline rush” that results in faster health regeneration, higher resistance to tactical equipment, and a constantly refreshed tactical sprint. However, the in-game description doesn’t do justice to just how overpowered and broken Battle Rage truly is.
Not only do players get an increase to their maximum health when activating Battle Rage, but the health regeneration is so powerful that players are healing faster than the damage they take while being shot at. This, combined with the increased time-to-kill in MW3, makes it seem like opposing players just won’t die.
Numerous creators have shared absurd clips from the MW3 beta, showcasing the brokenness of Battle Rage. Players are unloading entire clips into enraged enemies who refuse to go down, and opponents are surviving multiple magazines of bullets and still managing to kill their opponents.
What’s even more surprising is that this version of Battle Rage appears to be the properly tuned version according to Sledgehammer Games. They claimed that it was in line with their vision for the game, but it seems that either the tuning didn’t get properly implemented or their vision includes turning players into bullet sponges.
Players participating in the PS5 beta have reported that virtually everyone is using Battle Rage, and with the addition of new equipment vests, some players are able to activate Battle Rage twice during one life in respawn modes.
It remains to be seen if Sledgehammer Games will address the issues with Battle Rage before the official launch of Modern Warfare 3. In the meantime, players are left frustrated and struggling to deal with the overpowered ability.
