As the new Breeze map shakes up the competitive VALORANT scene, professional teams are already looking for innovative strategies to gain an advantage over their opponents. In a unique offseason event called Arcade, the Challengers DACH League is hosting a tournament where teams can select their opponents and have limited lives. Ovation eSports, a tier two team from Switzerland, has come up with an impressive play on Breeze that caught the attention of viewers and observers alike.
The play involves a combination of Sova’s Shock Dart, the chute in mid, and Omen’s teleport ability. The Shock Dart is used from the A site side of the mid connector to open the chute hatch. Meanwhile, Omen runs out into mid from the same connector and teleports up into the tunnel. This play effectively cuts off the tunnel, which is a crucial route for attackers on the new Breeze map.
Although the play didn’t catch the attackers off guard in this particular instance, as they were close enough to hear the chute opening and the Omen teleporting, it still disrupted their plans and bought valuable time for the defenders. Ovation eSports went on to win the map, showcasing the potential of this strategy.
What makes this play even more impressive is the observer’s keen eye. Observers are responsible for capturing the action on screen and monitoring the movements of all 10 players. Despite not being aware of the strategy beforehand, the observer instinctively followed the lineup and allowed viewers to witness the trick play in its entirety.
Will this play become a staple in the professional Breeze meta? Only time will tell. However, now that more observers are aware of it, they will be able to capture it on screen if it does become a popular strategy.
