Valve has swiftly addressed a critical hitbox problem in Counter-Strike 2 with a late evening update. The issue, which threatened the game’s professional debut and ranked play, was identified just last weekend. The update, released on October 9, includes the much-needed fix for the hitbox discrepancy that was discovered on Saturday. This quick response from the CS2 development team comes as a relief to players and fans, especially with the first major tournament approaching. While it is unclear if the fix applies universally to all hitboxes, it is a step in the right direction.
In addition to the hitbox fix, Valve provided further details about the future of CS:GO. The legacy client will still be accessible through Steam, but on January 1, 2024, Valve’s online Game Coordinator will be disconnected from the prequel. This will result in compatibility and connection issues with elements like player inventories. However, players who wish to play the last version of CS:GO will have the option to do so.
Valve also addressed various bugs, including those related to the Looking To Play party system, skin and sticker appearance under certain lighting conditions, and the speed of knife spinning during inspection. The 700MB patch is now available for download on Steam.
