Overwatch 2’s highly anticipated Halloween Terror event kicked off with season seven, but players were left disappointed with the lack of exciting skins in the credit shop. Despite Blizzard’s promise of a credit shop filled with new skins, the store only featured one new skin, Gilded Hunter Sombra, while the rest were already available for purchase using in-game credits. To make matters worse, the featured items were not even discounted, leaving players frustrated.
Players quickly expressed their frustration, especially since there are rare and limited-time skins that are currently unavailable. Executive producer Jared Neuss attempted to explain the situation on Twitter, but it did little to alleviate player frustration. Neuss clarified that the Anniversary shop skins were previously unavailable for credits, and the Gilded Hunter Sombra recolor is completely new. However, this explanation did not address the absence of other highly sought-after skins.
Blizzard missed an opportunity to give players a chance at earning numerous limited-time challenge skins, such as Ragdoll Echo, Stone Brigitte, Vampire Baptiste, and Skeleton Genji. These skins were only available for a short period of time through event challenges, causing players who took a break from the game to miss out on them.
Overall, the lackluster selection of skins in the credit shop has left Overwatch 2 players disappointed and frustrated. The missed opportunity to offer rare and limited-time skins through the shop has further added to player dissatisfaction. Hopefully, Blizzard will address these concerns and provide a more exciting and rewarding experience for players in future events.
