Moist Esports Makes a Bold Move to North America for Year Four of ALGS

Derek Morgan

Moist Esports, a top-performing team in the APAC-S region, has decided to make a significant change for the upcoming Year Four of the Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS). The team, known for its consistent success, has announced its move to North America, leaving behind APAC-S and venturing into new territory.

Under the leadership of Ben “Wxltzy” Walton, Moist Esports has been a force to be reckoned with in the APAC-S Pro League since their signing in 2022. They have consistently placed in the top three and have participated in multiple international events, although securing a win has eluded them so far.

In a recent announcement, Wxltzy revealed the team’s Points of Interest (POIs) for Year Four, which include Grow Towers on Olympus, Command Center on Storm Point, and Overlook on World’s Edge. These locations will serve as the moisture zones for all Year Four events in North America.

This move to North America is not unprecedented in the ALGS. In the previous season, DarkZero Esports made a similar transition from APAC-S to North America and achieved great success. They consistently performed well, qualifying for LAN events and even winning the Split Two Playoffs.

The changes in the Pro League format for Year Four heavily favor North America, thanks to their impressive performances at the 2023 Championship. While NA will send 12 teams to the Split One Playoffs, EMEA, APAC-S, and APAC-N will only send eight teams each. This presents an exciting opportunity for Moist Esports to compete against some of the best teams in the world on a weekly basis.

Although there may be initial challenges in adapting to the new environment, North America provides a larger margin for error with 12 out of 30 Pro League teams qualifying for the Split One Playoffs. This gives Moist Esports more room to grow and improve their performance.

The Year Four ALGS season will kick off with preseason qualifiers, starting on November 25, 2023. The winning teams from each qualifier tournament will join Moist Esports and other invited teams for the start of the Pro League on January 20, 2024.
