Riot Games has unveiled details about a major upcoming change to League of Legends: the addition of a new game mode called Quickplay. This highly anticipated mode will replace the current Blind Pick mode, offering players a faster and more streamlined experience.
In a recent developer video, Jeremy “Brightmoon” Lee and Andrei “Meddler” van Roon shared exciting updates on various new content coming to Summoner’s Rift. Towards the end of the video, they finally revealed information about the long-awaited Quickplay mode.
Quickplay aims to simplify the champion selection process for players who want to jump into a game as quickly as possible. In this mode, summoners will have the opportunity to choose their preferred role and champions in the lobby, eliminating the need for the traditional champion select phase.
This change caters to the growing trend among casual League players, particularly those with limited time for regular ranked play. Game modes like Arena have gained popularity, and Quickplay’s casual-friendly system is expected to provide an easier entry point for players looking for a stress-free experience on the Rift.
For those eager to try out this new mode, Quickplay is scheduled to be available on League’s PBE servers at the end of October in select regions. It will undergo testing for several patch cycles before being rolled out globally. While Riot may take some time to implement Quickplay, it is anticipated that this new game mode will be ready for players to enjoy at the start of the new year.
