CS2 Mirage Self-Boost Nerfed in Latest Update

Derek Morgan

The recent update to CS2 has nerfed the self-boost onto Triple Box in Mirage’s A bombsite. This popular tactic allowed T-side players to safely peek the CT spawn in post-plant situations when Jungle and Connector were smoked. However, Valve’s patch has made it much more difficult to execute this self-boost, requiring precise timing and practice.

Valve’s patch notes mentioned various bug fixes and tweaks to Mirage, Nuke, Overpass, and Vertigo. While players are still discovering the full extent of these changes, it is clear that the self-boost onto Triple Box has been affected. ThourCS, a well-known Counter-Strike content creator, initially claimed that the self-boost was completely removed. However, another player named Hatari demonstrated that it is still possible to perform the self-boost, albeit with increased difficulty.

Despite my previous success with this self-boost in CS:GO and CS2, I found it nearly impossible to execute after the update. It seems that I will need to invest significant time and effort into practicing this technique in order to use it effectively in competitive matches.

Valve has also made changes to other self-boosts in CS2, including one on Mirage’s B bombsite that allowed CTs to spot T-side players passing through B Apartments. This self-boost was removed during the game’s beta phase.

Valve continues to make frequent updates to CS2, and we will gain a better understanding of the overall changes when IEM Sydney begins on October 15th. This tournament will feature the world’s top teams competing in CS2 for the first time.
