Evil Geniuses Removes Player from VALORANT Game Changers Roster Following Hateful Comments

Derek Morgan

The North American VALORANT scene is in turmoil once again as Evil Geniuses takes action against a high-profile player on its Game Changers roster. The player has been removed due to making hateful comments that go against the league’s values.

This decision comes shortly after Evil Geniuses emerged victorious over Version1 in the 2023 VCT GC Series Three, securing the title. The team has stated that they will work with Riot Games to determine their participation in the GC Championship in São Paulo later this year.

Upon learning about recent comments that were deemed “severely inappropriate, hateful, and misogynistic” by a player on their Game Changer roster, Evil Geniuses swiftly took action and removed the player. They emphasized that such behavior has no place within their organization.

Although the player’s name was not mentioned, allegations surfaced on Twitter on October 11, all pointing towards EG’s keenc. Evidence provided aligns with the description of the allegations. These allegations were posted separately by different individuals within a short timeframe.

One person shared a video of their message history, where keenc allegedly made comments suggesting an interest in the user despite their underage status, stating they would be their “type” if they were older and physically active.

In another post, keenc allegedly encouraged someone to post more revealing photos, implying that they do it frequently and considering it as “advice.” The same individual claimed that keenc consistently tried to engage in sexual discussions with them. Another instance involved keenc pressuring someone to make inappropriate noises.

Keenc responded directly to these allegations in a now-deleted statement, expressing disgust and remorse for their actions. They stated, “I’m disgusted about it… I hope I have moved past this and can do better.”

Keenc excelled in EG’s winning Series, leading the stat chart while playing as Jett and Raze, with a rating of 1.42 and over 300 ACS according to vlr.gg. The GC World Championship is set to begin on November 28, giving EG just over a month to find a replacement before representing NA in Brazil.

Game Changers serves as a safe space for women and marginalized genders. With the removal of the player from EG due to the listed reasons, it is hoped that the young scene can continue to foster these values.
