Understanding the Worlds Swiss Stage

The League of Legends World Championship has introduced a new Swiss stage format for 2023. In this stage, 16 teams compete in up to five rounds, with eight teams eventually being eliminated and eight advancing to the quarterfinals. Teams only play against opponents with the same win-loss record, providing more opportunities for teams to progress in the tournament. A team needs to win three matches to advance to the knockout stage, while three losses result in elimination from the tournament.

Teams can participate in up to five matchdays on their journey to the finals, with a total of 33 scheduled matches taking place from October 19 to October 29.
