A datamine from Assassin’s Creed Mirage has uncovered a cut end-credits scene that provides a significant clue about the future of the series. The scene, not included in the released version of the game, features Enkidu the eagle flying towards a futuristic radio antenna in the desert. This triggers a dialogue between two Animus employees, hinting at a connection to the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe, also known as AC Neo. The conversation revolves around a “memory ghost” found in the data collected by William Miles, an important figure in the Assassin’s Creed lore. The employees discuss the “Great Shift,” an event that occurred in the 21st century and is referred to as “ancient history.” This suggests a major leap into the distant future for the Assassin’s Creed universe.
It is important to note that since these files were cut from the game, plans may have changed, and this future direction is uncertain. However, with the upcoming releases of Assassin’s Creed Infinity, which will serve as a hub for accessing games, and Assassin’s Creed Codename Red set in feudal Japan, the series is expected to undergo significant expansion. Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe, currently in development by Ubisoft Montreal, is anticipated as the next major installment in the franchise. The potential shift to a futuristic setting raises intriguing questions about the direction the series may take.
