Destiny 2’s annual Halloween event, the Festival of the Lost, is in full swing. While players enjoy the new weapons and cosmetics, there is one aspect that has them feeling conflicted: Festival Masks. These masks, although fun, replace the player’s helmet and can disrupt existing builds.
On October 17, as soon as the event began, players started suggesting that Festival Masks should be turned into ornaments instead of armor pieces. This way, players could simply add them on top of their existing builds without worrying about leveling up the gear, its stats, or armor mods. However, this solution doesn’t address the issue of not being able to use Exotic helmets, as Exotics can only equip specific ornaments.
An alternative suggestion is to introduce an event class item, similar to the Guardian Games, or an emblem that guardians must wear. While these options may not be as immersive or spooky, they would still allow players to freely use their favorite builds. Even if masks were to remain, ornaments would eliminate unnecessary complications when it comes to builds.
Some may argue, “Why bother with a build for a lost sector? They’re easy.” However, this year’s Festival of the Lost includes Legend Haunted Sectors, a higher difficulty activity with a minimum Power requirement of 1815. Without a well-crafted build, it can be challenging to successfully complete the activity and obtain all desired rewards.
It may seem like nitpicking at the event, but in a game that revolves around build crafting, not being able to fully utilize favorite loadouts is undeniably disappointing.
