Zed Remains the Most Popular Mid Lane Champion Despite Struggling in the Current Meta

superadmin

Despite his struggles in the current meta, Zed continues to be the most popular mid lane champion in League of Legends. However, his high pick rate does not translate into success, as he has one of the lowest win rates in the role. Additionally, Zed is frequently banned by players in higher ranked distributions.

Assassin champions have been trying to find their place in the evolving meta, but only a few have managed to establish themselves as viable options. New assassin champ Naafiri has been well-received, along with mages and AP carries who bring crowd control and damage to the forefront. Naafiri’s skill set is easier to navigate compared to other assassins, making her a popular choice.

Zed players have had to adapt their playstyle and build to fit the changing meta. Many have opted for bruiser builds and increased cooldown reduction to remain relevant. However, Zed faces challenges from items like Rod of Ages and Crown of the Shattered Queen, which provide durability to even the squishiest champions.

If the enemy team sticks together and protects their backline, Zed struggles to fulfill his traditional assassin role. This forces him to play in off-role types that don’t align with his original playstyle, putting him in a difficult position in the current meta.
