Apex Legends streamer NiceWigg is expressing his dissatisfaction with the upcoming changes to the game’s ranked mode. Respawn Entertainment recently announced that players of any rank will be able to team up in squads, a decision that NiceWigg believes will lead to an increase in cheating and boosting.
According to NiceWigg, allowing players of different ranks to team up will result in cheaters using new accounts to boost lower-ranked players and reach higher ranks. This, in turn, will lead to a surge in cheating within the game. Additionally, he argues that this change opens the door for cheaters to infiltrate high-level lobbies and disrupt highly ranked players’ experiences for their own amusement.
Another concern raised by NiceWigg is that solo players may face more challenges in ranked mode if they consistently end up in lobbies filled with full squads. However, on a positive note, high-ranked solo players will now be able to play with their lower-ranked friends without any issues.
While Respawn Entertainment has also introduced other changes to ranked mode, such as increased LP bonuses and reduced LP loss after provisional ranked games, it is the decision to allow players of all ranks to team up that has caused the most controversy within the Apex Legends community. Many players feel that this change undermines the significance of ranks, as lower-ranked players could potentially face off against top-tier players. There are also concerns that all lobbies will feel the same, regardless of rank.
The impact of these changes remains to be seen when the new season begins.
