The latest trailer for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is here, and it’s a trip down memory lane for fans of the original games. The emotional roller coaster begins with Miles Morales seeking Peter Parker’s help in writing a college application. As the trailer unfolds, it floods us with memories from the franchise.
Warning: This video contains spoilers for the series, so if you plan on playing the original games, proceed with caution. However, if you need a quick refresher on key story events, this trailer has got you covered.
The trailer starts with Peter, the star of 2018’s Marvel’s Spider-Man, providing an example to Miles through voiceover while showcasing clips from the game. We see glimpses of Mary-Jane, Aunt May, and Peter’s epic battle against his mentor-turned-enemy, Dr. Octopus. This battle, as we all know, ended tragically with the death of Aunt May.
But the emotional journey doesn’t end there. The focus then shifts to Miles in 2020’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. As Peter is away on assignment with MJ, Miles embarks on his own adventure as the new Spider-Man. The trailer highlights his struggles as a superhero, his mother’s campaign for city council, and his budding romance with Hailey Cooper. Throughout it all, Miles emphasizes the importance of his relationship with Peter.
“I learned how to be a Spider-Man from the original, but I learned how to be a hero from my dad,” Miles says, his words accompanied by swelling music. “He was killed in the city hall bombing by Martin Li. The good I strive to do every day is the legacy my dad left behind.”
If you can make it through the tears, get ready for the worldwide release of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on PS5 tomorrow, Oct. 20.
