VALORANT’s Newest Agent Iso Receives Mixed Reactions from Pros

Tim Price

The latest addition to VALORANT’s agent roster, Iso, is not receiving a warm welcome from the professional community. While opinions vary among players, the general consensus is that Iso may not be a valuable asset in competitive play.

Melanie “meL” Capone from Version1 expresses doubts about Iso’s usefulness, stating that it’s difficult to justify choosing him over other agents due to his lack of mobility and underwhelming teamplay abilities. In order to be viable in the meta, an agent must either provide consistent support to teammates or possess exceptional firepower that can rival star players like old Chamber and Jett.

Adam Kaplan, the head coach of Sentinels, adds that it’s already challenging for an agent to secure a flex spot in the double controller meta. With the current rigid state of agent picks in VALORANT competitive play, agents with more utility will always take priority over Iso, making it even harder for him to find a place in team compositions.

Compared to other powerful picks like Sage, Sova, and the Brimstone/Breach combo, Iso falls short in terms of team assistance. These agents offer more utility and contribute significantly to the team’s success, leaving little room for Iso to make an impact.

Recent history has shown that new VALORANT agents often struggle to influence the meta. During the VALORANT Champions tournament, early additions like Killjoy and Skye dominated the pick rate charts, followed closely by release agents Raze, Viper, Jett, and Omen. However, the second-newest agent, Deadlock, was completely overlooked and never picked throughout the entire tournament.

If initial reactions from professional players are any indication, it seems that Iso may face a similar fate and fail to make a significant impact in the competitive scene.
