Starfield Fans Turn to Cheats to Avoid Frustrating Temples

Xavier Ward

Devoted fans of Bethesda’s Starfield have resorted to cheating in order to bypass the game’s frustrating temples. While cheating in single-player games is generally frowned upon, players have become so exasperated with the temple mechanic that they are willing to break their own rules.

On October 21, a Starfield fan took to Reddit to express their frustration with the temples and admit that they had resorted to cheats. This was a first for them, as they had never cheated in any Bethesda game before. They had managed to complete all the temples in their initial playthrough, but the thought of going through them again in New Game+ was too much to bear.

In Starfield, temples are essential for acquiring powers in the first playthrough and leveling them up in NG+. With a total of 24 temples and the ability to level each power up to level 10, players would need to complete a staggering 240 temples to maximize all their powers.

The most frustrating aspect is that every temple features the same repetitive minigame, with no variation in gameplay or difficulty. This lack of variety has left players feeling disheartened and seeking alternatives.

Fortunately, the community has come up with a solution. One player shared a mod called Starborn’s Bounty, which injects more excitement into power leveling. This mod rewards players with random bonuses upon defeating Starborn enemies, including the chance to rank up their powers. It adds an element of surprise and makes the process feel more akin to Skyrim’s dragon spirit absorption.

While the initial completion of the temple minigame can be intriguing due to its mysterious nature, the lack of variety becomes apparent after multiple playthroughs. Players feel that the developers missed an opportunity to provide a more diverse and engaging experience.

It remains uncertain whether Bethesda will address this issue in future updates, as no clear roadmap or release dates have been announced for Starfield. Fans will have to wait and see if any major changes are on the horizon.
