Talon Esports’ journey at TI12 may have ended prematurely in a thrilling playoff series against BetBoom Team on October 23rd. However, amidst the disappointment, one of their players, Chan “Oli” Chon Kien, walked away with an incredibly rare reward – a Treasure of the Crimson Witness.
The moment when Oli received the Treasure of the Crimson Witness was captured during the live broadcast of The International. Although the image is blurry, it clearly shows the monitor next to Nuengnara “23savage” Teeramahanon, where Oli was seated, displaying the coveted Crimson Witness reward pop-up screen.
Talon Esports may have been eliminated, but their position five player managed to obtain a rare item before exiting the tournament. Now, you might wonder, just how difficult is it to acquire this item?
First and foremost, this exceptionally rare treasure only drops during The International and under special circumstances. The player or viewer must physically attend the TI event and link their TI badge to their Steam account. Once this is done, the viewer or player involved in the match must witness a First Blood taking place.
The crimson red version of an item serves as a clear indicator of its rarity.
Only when these conditions are met does one have a slight chance of obtaining a Treasure of the Crimson Witness. Due to the low odds, the prices of these treasures have consistently risen over time on the Steam Marketplace, particularly for older treasure items.
Will more Treasures of the Crimson Witness be dropped? Tune in to the main stage of TI12, live from the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle on October 27th to find out.
