As the world prepares to bid farewell to Cyberpunk 2077, fans are expressing their disappointment over the lack of expansions in the game. A Reddit post titled “I wish Cyberpunk 2077 had more expansions” has brought together hundreds of players who feel that the game’s development cycle left many gaps unfilled. Despite the rocky launch and subsequent patches, players believe that Night City, the game’s setting, has so much untapped potential.
One player expressed sadness over the fact that such a beautifully crafted city was only fully utilized in the base game and one expansion. They believe that there is so much more to explore and experience in Night City, and that it could have been the foundation for a whole new game if done right.
Another player theorized that CDPR, the game’s developer, may be saving the most exciting content for the sequel. Given the game’s troubled history, it makes sense that they would focus on improving the next installment rather than investing in costly expansions. The player also mentioned that CDPR is transitioning from their RedEngine to Unreal 5, which could explain the lack of a second DLC.
Cyberpunk 2077 faced numerous issues, including the removal of Act One and underdeveloped characters. These problems cannot simply be fixed with patches, and players are left wanting more from the game.
Some players shared their own ideas for what a second expansion could have been. One suggestion was a Trauma Team or Maxtac-related expansion, delving deeper into the dark and greedy world of Night City’s corporate elites. This would have provided a unique perspective on the dystopian privatized healthcare system and added depth to the game.
Unfortunately, players must now wait for the next game in the series to explore the places and stories that Cyberpunk 2077 missed. The hope is that the developers will learn from their mistakes and deliver a more fulfilling experience in the future.
