Umbral Glaive, the popular item in League of Legends, is causing quite a stir among players. With its low price tag of just 2,300 gold, many are realizing that it offers far too much for its cost.
Compared to Eclipse, another Lethality item, Umbral Glaive seems to be severely underpriced. While Eclipse is a Mythic item that costs 3,100 gold and provides 60 attack damage, 15 ability haste, and 12 Lethality, Umbral Glaive offers 50 attack damage, 15 ability haste, and 13 Lethality for only 2,300 gold.
Not only do these items provide similar stats, but Umbral Glaive is significantly cheaper. On top of that, Umbral Glaive has the added benefit of revealing stealthed wards and dealing bonus damage to any existing ward, even without revealing it. This level of vision control is becoming overwhelming, especially when multiple players on a team build this item.
Originally designed for AD supports like Pyke, Senna, and Pantheon to assist with vision control, Umbral Glaive has now been adopted by other champions. This has led to an imbalance in the game, making it nearly impossible to contest vision control, particularly for champions without access to the item.
Some players suggest a simple solution: restrict the purchase of Umbral Glaive to support champions or increase its cost to match its value. Others go as far as advocating for its removal from the game, as there is no equivalent item for AP champions, making it unfair for them to compete in vision control.
It is hoped that Riot Games will address this issue promptly and find a solution that restores balance to the game.
