The highly anticipated release of Ark: Survival Ascended for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 has been postponed due to significant problems, according to developer Studio Wildcard.
During Xbox’s recent Partner Preview livestream on October 25th, a long-awaited reveal trailer was shown, ending with a mysterious “coming soon” message. However, the description of the video on YouTube revealed that the game would be launching on Steam on the same day, while the console release was pushed back to November.
Studio Wildcard confirmed the game’s launch on Steam but expressed disappointment in encountering critical issues that caused them to fall short just before the finish line. Originally, the plan was to release Ark: Survival Ascended simultaneously on all platforms in October 2023. However, the multiplayer version faced significant problems that would have had major implications for the console versions, leading to the delay.
Despite the setback, the delay provides an opportunity for the developer to bring the game up to the PC specification. Several critical improvements were made to the PC build while the console versions were undergoing certification.
As a result of the console release delay, crossplay between Steam and consoles has been disabled until further notice. However, this decision may change depending on the progress of the PC version.
When Ark: Survival Ascended eventually launches on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 next month, Studio Wildcard plans to introduce a fresh set of servers for the game. These servers will include limited-time bonus rates to help players catch up and prepare for Crossark.
Ark: Survival Ascended is a remastered version of the 2015 game Ark: Survival Evolved. It introduces modding on consoles for the first time and includes new features such as a photo mode, wild babies, new structures, new creatures, and more.
