Baldur’s Gate 3 Villains: The Most Hated Ones

Derek Morgan

Baldur’s Gate 3 offers a variety of villains, but there is one particular character that players absolutely despise, regardless of their evil inclinations. Fans of the game took to social media to discuss which villains they would never side with, and the consensus was clear.

While some villains like Lorroakan, the power-hungry mage, and Raphael, the egomaniacal cambion, received mentions, the most hated character by far is the True Soul Nere. As an enemy of the Myconids, a sentient plant hivemind, players refuse to align themselves with Nere due to their admiration for the Myconids. Even if players choose an evil playthrough, they can still rebel against the Myconid colony and side with Glut, a Myconid character, to overthrow Sovereign Spaw, the current leader. This leaves players with little reason to support Nere, even if they aim to be villainous.

Another despised character is the Duergar Sergeant Thrinn, who is equally unlikable. Choosing to side with this slave-owning monster leads players on a quest to retrieve a pair of boots that a slave used to escape from Thrinn. Since Thrinn is part of Nere’s group, players view them as one and the same, making it difficult to form any positive associations, even for those embracing their evil side.

In conclusion, while Baldur’s Gate 3 presents numerous villains, the True Soul Nere and Duergar Sergeant Thrinn stand out as the most hated characters among players. Their actions and affiliations make it nearly impossible for players, even those seeking an evil playthrough, to find any reason to support or align themselves with these despised individuals.
