Counter-Strike fans were expecting some roster changes in the CS2 era, but the current offseason has exceeded all expectations. Amidst all the chaos, a major scandal has unfolded involving Heroic and Astralis, leading to a split in one of the top teams in the world.
Heroic Benches Captain cadiaN
In a surprising move at the beginning of October, Heroic decided to bench their long-time in-game leader and AWPer, cadiaN. The team cited “differing visions for the future” as the reason behind this decision. cadiaN is known for his unique role as both an IGL and primary AWPer, as well as his clutch plays and passionate demeanor.
Heroic Signs 5-Time Major Winner dupreeh
Following cadiaN’s departure, Heroic wasted no time in signing another Danish legend, dupreeh. The player, who recently left Vitality, is the most accomplished CS:GO player of all time, having competed in all 19 CS:GO Majors and winning five of them.
Heroic Benches stavn and jabbi, Exposing Astralis’ Plan
Adding more fuel to the fire, Heroic made the controversial decision to bench both stavn and jabbi, while also revealing a shocking backstory. According to Heroic, the two players initiated a push to replace cadiaN and even gave the organization an ultimatum. They allegedly agreed to extend their contracts if cadiaN was let go, but Heroic claims that they communicated plans to sign with Astralis after receiving their extensions.
Stavn Denies Heroic’s Statement
Stavn, one of the players involved, took to Twitter to refute Heroic’s claims. He simply stated, “Gotta love the world we live in. What is the saying? Truth always prevails.” Astralis has yet to respond publicly or address the matter.
