On October 26, Blizzard Entertainment released the final version of the patch notes for Patch 10.2. However, fans are expressing their concerns and urging the developers to make further adjustments, particularly to the Hunter class.
One major issue that players on WoW’s subreddit have highlighted is the new Hunter’s Mark ability. While it now provides a raid-wide buff that increases the target’s damage taken by five percent, it only works if the target has above 80 percent of their maximum health. This change has been met with disappointment and criticism from the community.
Many players argue that Hunter’s Mark is not effective in its current form. It is considered an afterthought in single-target fights and a hindrance in fights that involve target switching. The ability’s limitations also pose challenges in Mythic+ dungeons. Some players have found workarounds by pre-casting it to avoid the 20-second cooldown, but this approach makes the ability dull and unengaging. Fans believe that Blizzard could have come up with a more innovative way to provide hunters with much-needed utility.
Furthermore, fans agree that Hunters, especially Marksmanship Hunters, are long overdue for a rework. The class is often seen as mediocre, lacking in DPS output, survivability, and utility. The rotations can be confusing and overwhelming, leading to a less enjoyable gameplay experience.
While there is hope that Blizzard will address these issues through hotfixes at the beginning of season three, it is clear that more substantial changes are needed to make the Hunter class relevant and desirable again in the eyes of the community.
