Nitrado’s exclusive server hosting for Ark: Survival Ascended has caused outrage among players, as it limits their options and comes with exorbitant prices. The cheapest three-day subscription with 26 player slots costs $8.09, while a year-long server with 200 player slots is priced at over $2,000. This exclusivity and pricing have led to a furious reaction from the player base, who are also frustrated with the limitations of the single-server available through Steam. Many players have expressed their intention to stick with Ark: Survival Evolved due to these issues.
Despite the server hosting problems, the official servers of Ark: Survival Ascended have also faced stability issues since launch. However, a new server-side build is expected to resolve over 95% of server crashes. The developer has acknowledged the historical problem of server stability at launch and plans to launch more official servers. These issues are concerning as the game is yet to be released on console.
While dedicated servers may be limited, there are alternative options available. Non-dedicated servers can host up to eight players, and the game can also be played in a single-player world. These alternatives come with their own limitations, but they provide some relief for players frustrated with the current server hosting situation.
