Spider-Man 2, the recently released game, has surprised fans with its connection to another Marvel superhero, Wolverine. In a recent podcast, Spider-Man 2 creative director Bryan Intihar confirmed that both games take place in the same universe.
When asked why Wolverine didn’t make a cameo in Spider-Man 2, Intihar explained that the decision was made to let the Wolverine team focus on their own project. However, he hinted at the possibility of future crossovers between the two characters.
Intihar further revealed that both Spider-Man 2 and the upcoming Wolverine game exist in Earth-1048, one of the many versions of Earth in the Marvel multiverse. This confirmation opens up exciting possibilities for the future of both franchises.
The Wolverine game was announced over two years ago and is being developed by Brian Horton and Cameron Christian, who previously worked on Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. According to Intihar, the Wolverine game will be a full-size game with a mature tone.
It’s worth noting that Spider-Man 2 already includes a reference to Wolverine through an unlockable suit called “The Best There Is.” This suit pays homage to Wolverine’s iconic costume from the original X-Men comics.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has received widespread acclaim, particularly for its engaging narrative. The revelation that it shares the same universe as Marvel’s Wolverine game only adds to the excitement surrounding both titles.
